Utilizing high voltage DC current, the plasma cutting process delivers a high velocity jet of ionized gas from a constricting orifice to a conductive, metallic workpiece. Upon contact, the metal surface melts, where the high velocity stream of ionized gas mechanically blows the molten metal away, severing the material. With a kerf width of only 0.015" reproducibility is excellent, offering an affordable alternative to complex shapes in metal.
